Snohomish 2-1 — Kelley and the Boys get it done!!

Snohomish Panthers win the WESCO title and take the pressure of the #1 WESCO seed into State Cup.

Snohomish 1 vs Lake Stevens 3

Lake Stevens came out strong with good midfield control and kept it up the much of the game. Lake scored first on a botched keeper outlet pass & missed stab by a Snohomish wing putting the keeper 1v1 with a charging Lake midfielder for a score.

Snoho had an offsides goal in front of the Lake goal. A while later, Snoho scored on a nice upper corner near post shot from just inside the box. (possibly by a Snoho defensive wing?).

The second Lake goal was one of those, “Gee guys, you’re letting the ball sit around a long time in front of your goal deals.”

Score at half Lake 2–1 Snoho.

After a lot of back and forth control and boot ball (mostly by Snoho), Snoho finally put on a concerted effort to score. Corner kick after corner kick, bullet side out into the box followed by another. Shots hit the bar, missed over the top, around the side.

Hey guys, it’s not about making the perfect unbeatable shot, it’s about picking your spot in the goal to put your shot and letting the keeper do his job, or not…

With less than 10 minutes left, Snoho’s star forward, perhaps frustrated after sitting front and center with a sweeper and stopper in his front and back pockets all game, pulled down a red card with some silly foolery in the box after a decent missed attack, putting Snoho down a player. Going down a player, didn’t stop Snoho’s pressure on Lake.

With the clock frozen at 2:00, Snoho pulled everyone forward for a corner, which bounced out to the Snoho keeper who was 15 yards inside Lake’s side of the field. A weak keeper outlet pass was intercepted, leading to Lake scoring it’s 3rd (open) goal.

Snohomish hasn’t really been pressured to come from behind this season to a talented team, so no one really knows what they are made of… Well, this Friday night game was a character building event for both teams, with Lake coming out on top this time. Should be an interesting run into State for both teams.

2–1 vs Lake Stevens @ Snohomish

  • Snohomish dominated the first 2/3rd of both halves, but Lake Stevens came on strong at the end of each to put the pressure on the Snohomish defense to hold their lead.
